This course is based on PETAA's award-shortlisted book, Investigating model texts for learning by Sally Humphrey and Emma Vale and is a timely reminder of the value of model texts. Through a detailed analysis of model texts from across the curriculum areas, it provides a valuable reference for teachers as they source, analyse and compose their own models to teach in the lower primary classroom.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand the relationship between language and context in order to develop increasingly flexible student writing repertoires
- Have a planned approach to using model texts in the lower primary classroom
- Unpack language features and highlights of example model texts across subjects English, Science, HASS and HPE
- Understand genre, register and macrogenres

This course is self-paced and unmoderated. All participants have access to materials for 365 days from the date they register.
