PETAA Author Jon Callow to present Keynote at Screen Futures

PETAA, as one of the sponsors of the Screen Futures Summit and Youth Media Festival in Melbourne from 1–3 July, has made it possible for PETAA author and presenter Jon Callow to deliver a keynote address titled, ‘They Are the Booming Things’: Interpreting, Creating and Assessing Multimodal Texts with Primary Students.

The schedule includes panels and presentations specifically programmed for primary teachers, including keynote sessions from Noni Hazlehurst AM, Jon Callow, Paul Wells, Graeme Turner, Guillaume Deront from YouTube, the team behind The Family Law, Christos Tsiolkas, Tony Ayres, Leena van Deventer, John Cabrera and many more.

Special multiliteracies sessions

Peak Victorian teaching associations the Australian Literacy Educators’ Association (ALEA) and the Victorian Association for the Teaching of English (VATE) are collaborating with ATOM on a program for the Screen Futures Summit. These sessions will focus on the interplay between Media, Literacy and English, and how this can be realised in classroom practice. Issues, ideas and understandings will be discussed and debated by key Literacy and English educators.
