This course introduces teachers to planning for differentiation in diverse classrooms. Australian classrooms have always been diverse in student make up, reflecting the cultural diversity of this country and the inherent diversity of the human population. However, with more pressure than ever on teachers to document planning and report assessments and observations, the associated workload with our diverse classrooms is at its peak. This course will unpack:

  • What we mean by differentiation in teaching and learning
  • Relevant pedagogical approaches for differentiation
  • Effective planning for differentiation
  • Instructional practices to support differentiated learning
  • Incorporating differentiation into assessment tasks

Learning outcomes

  • Understand what constitutes differentiation in the primary classroom
  • Incorporate key pedagogical approaches to support differentiation in your classroom
  • Embed differentiation across your planning, content, teaching strategies and assessment
