This course briefly unpacks the substantial history of practice, curriculum relevance and pedagogic advantage of incorporating animation creation in the teaching of English in schools. It then outlines the origin of programs with school-age children using the block coding platform of Scratch
Learning outcomes:
- Understand what is meant by block coding and the key coding instructions most frequently used for creating stories with Scratch
- Explore the main coding and drawing tools used in Scratch and some of their uses in story creation
- See some of the ways in which Scratch story creation through coding and drawing directly addresses specific AC:E learning outcomes for Year 6 and Year 7

- STEM teachers
- Literacy Leaders with an interest in digital technology

This course is self-paced and unmoderated. All participants have access to materials for 365 days from the date they register.
