Program Planning to Support EAL/D Students, created by Jennifer Hammond and Maya Cranitch, builds on principles of high challenge and high support for EAL/D students to address the importance of program planning processes that are principled and collaborative. It provides examples of well-planned programs that are characterised by clear purposes for learning; and by sequences of learning that address the needs of EAL/D students.
Learning Outcomes:
- Develop processes of systematic and collaborative program planning that build on shared expertise of class and EAL/D teachers
- Organise content into coherent well-sequenced learning and teaching programs
- Identify explicit, challenging and achievable learning goals for all students
- Establish clear purposes for learning, and share these purposes with students
Who should participate?
- Teachers F-6 with EAL/D students in their classes, including new arrivals
- Literacy Leaders
- EAL/D Coordinators
- Principals, Deputy Principals and Assistant Principals with EAL/D students in their schools
- Heads of Curriculum, Instructional Leadership and Teaching and Learning
How does it work?
- Individuals: upon registration individuals will be sent a link to access the PL on our online learning platform.
- Group Booking: Schools wishing to make a group booking should email us the number of teachers they want to enrol in order to receive a quote.
- PL Subscription: Access this course via the PL Subscription homepage. All PL subscription members receive free access to all online unmoderated courses.
