What is this course about?

This short course dives into the heart of teaching grammar: phrases and noun groups. Created by grammar guru, Rod Campbell, this classic PETAA course has been revamped and revitalised to align with the Australian Curriculum v9 and latest NSW and Victorian curriculums. This course will dive into:

  • Teaching adjective, adjectival phrases and adjectival clause
  • Teaching the difference between clause and phrase
  • Using simile as phrase and clause
  • Unpacking the expanded noun group
  • Linking language, grammar, vocabulary, figurative language and the power of story

Learning Outcomes:

  • Improve your confidence in the core 25% of grammar knowledge: phrases and noun groups
  • Learn how to teach grammar whilst scaffolding, modelling and explicitly instructing your students
  • Understand how poetry and literature can support you in your teaching and modelling to students

Who should participate?

  • Teachers Years 2-6 wishing to deepen their knowledge of explicitly and meaningfully teaching phrases and noun groups in classroom

How does it work?

  • Individuals: upon registration individuals will be sent a link to access the PL on our online learning platform.
  • Group Booking: Schools interested in making a group booking should email us the number of teachers they wish to enrol in order to receive a quote.
  • PL Subscription: Access this course via the PL Subscription homepage. All PL subscription members receive free access to all online unmoderated courses.
