 This course is free for NSW teachers who teach at a school participating in the 2024 NSW Premier's Reading Challenge, of which PETAA is a proud supporter. 

 

What is this course about?

Enhance your teaching skills to foster a love for reading in your primary classroom. Join us for this PETAA course, where we dive deep into key instructional routines for teaching reading for meaning, learning, and pleasure. Don't miss this opportunity to transform your teaching and inspire a lifelong love for reading in your students!

Learning outcomes: 

  • Gain insights into the theory and practice of essential reading strategies such as close reading, read aloud, think aloud, tell me and shared reading. 
  • Implement evidence-based pedagogy to improve your classroom teaching. 
  • Learn how to create positive reading environments that nurture a culture of reading in your classroom and throughout your school.

  • Assistant Principals Curriculum and Instruction

How does it work?

  • Individuals: upon registration individuals will be sent a link to access the PL on our online learning platform.
  • Group Booking: Schools wishing to enrol all their staff in this course (please do! Create a professional learning community of practice around this course) can email us the names, job titles and emails and we'll do the hard work for you.
