Participants are required to either attend three live online workshop sessions via Zoom:
- Session 1- Zoom: Tuesday 7/5/24 at 3.45pm - 4.45pm
- Session 2- Zoom: Tuesday 28/5/24 at 3.45pm - 4.45pm
- Session 3- Zoom: Tuesday 11/6/24 at 3.45pm- 4.45pm
Or watch the presentation recordings within one week of them originally being streamed.
The course also includes 1 hour of independent tasks for teachers to implement in their school environments.
What is this course about?
This online, moderated PL course is an introduction to concept-based programming in English. It unpacks the English concepts in the NSW English Syllabus K-10 (2022) and as featured in the Australian Curriculum v9 and provides a deep dive into English concepts. It focuses on engaging with and responding to literature through English concepts and is an excellent companion course for our very popular in person course, Let’s Write an English unit using textual concepts.
Why participate?
Through completing this course, participants will:
- Locate English concepts in the syllabus and understand why they are important.
- Understand what constitutes quality texts and learn how we can we use them to improve learning in our English classrooms
- Use the English concepts as a basis for programming.
- Plan teaching and learning activities that teach English concepts, while addressing student learning needs.

How does it work?
- Individuals: upon registration individuals will be sent a link to access the PL on our online learning platform and zoom links to live sessions ahead of time.
- Group Booking: Schools interested in making a group booking should email us the number of teachers they wish to enrol in order to receive a quote
