The course aims to support teachers in beginning their journey in enhancing students 'multimodal literacies with AR.
A Teacher's Guide to Enhancing Multimodal Literacies with Augmented Reality
- Module 1: What is AR and why is it important? - introduces you to the characteristics of AR.
- Module 2: Which AR apps are suitable and how to evaluate them? - enables you to explore AR apps and evaluate their benefits.
- Module 3: Using the Pedagogical Framework to integrate AR for multimodal literacies teaching - employs this framework to develop students' multimodal literacies.
- Module 4: Have a go! - learn to develop a unit of work that integrates AR for multimodal literacies teaching.
Why participate?
- Understand and describe the characteristics of augmented reality (AR) and its educational potential.
- Learn to evaluate AR apps for their educational potential.
- Learn to explain the effective use of AR apps using the recommended pedagogical framework; and
- Learn to use a range of AR apps to develop students' multimodal literacies.

- All teachers years F-6
- School leaders
What else do I need to know? This course is designed as a companion professional development resource for the text, Between Worlds: Extending Students 'Multimodal Literacy Practices with Augmented Reality (AR).
How does it work?
- Individuals: upon registration individuals will be sent a link to access the PL on our online learning platform.
- Whole schools: One staff member must register on behalf of their school. They can choose to have a single link to view this together or can email us the names and email addresses of teachers they wish to enrol.
