About this program
This online professional learning program, Supporting EAL/D Students in our Classroom, created by Dr Jennifer Hammond and Maya Cranitch AM, provides a deep dive into evidence-informed approaches to supporting EAL/D learners in Australian classrooms.
The program explores the importance and practicalities of providing high-challenge learning experiences while simultaneously offering the high levels of support EAL/D students require to succeed. Participants will examine examples of effective programs characterised by clear learning intentions, purposeful planning and carefully sequenced learning experiences.
The program highlights the central role of talk in and for learning, the importance of language in mediating learning, and the need for explicit support in developing academic English.
