We are thrilled to announce fantastic news for the NSW education community: The 2024 PETAA National Conference is now NESA accredited!
This year's conference, with the theme Reading: Learning, meaning, pleasure, is here to support teachers through a critical and rapidly-evolving period of primary English and literacy instruction, sharing strategies for explicit teaching and learning at both a classroom and whole-school level. The engaging, carefully structured program features two streams - one for classroom teachers and one for school leaders - to support these approaches.
"We all want students to engage in reading for pleasure but we have to make sure we support students to gain the skills they need to read fluently and make meaning from what they have read." said Michelle Bradley, PETAA's Head of Professional Learning.
"The three aspects of learning, meaning and pleasure flow from each other and culminate in that amazing adventure we know reading can become."
This year's conference features a range of inspiring speakers from the international and local stage, including Professor Emeritus Timothy Shanahan (USA), Associate Professor Helen Adam (AUS), Professor Teresa Cremin (UK), Professor Anne Castles, (AUS), Australian Children's Laureate Sally Rippin, record-breaking author Emily Rodda, and many more.
This can't-miss event will take place from Thursday 17 October - Friday 18 October. Attendees are invited to attend the conference in-person at the Novotel Parramatta in Sydney's West, or to sign up for live-streamed access on the day. On-demand access is also available, though NSW attendees should not that on-demand viewing is not NESA accredited.
Earlybird discounts are currently available. View all ticketing options at the PETAA Conference website.
