Handwriting & Keyboarding

Contemporary writing incorporates a variety of traditional, digital, multimodal, and visual literacy forms, with the written word still central to most texts. Deborah Brandt (2015) suggests that writing is taking over reading as the literacy skill of critical consequence in the current era. It is therefore critical that teachers continue to teach handwriting, as well as the keyboarding skills necessary for writing on a computer, understanding the contemporary research behind these skills.
