Oliver PhommavanhView Session 1 of the video conference with Oliver Phommavanh. (Note that the recording from a network video is of low quality and 44 minutes in duration.)

After viewing: Debrief the video conference and remind students of aspects of effective narrative writing (plot development) that they have been learning about.

Exploring the writing task

Australian Curriculum: English sub-strand: Literacy – Creating texts

Remind students of the task that they will undertake. Students are to work backwards from a still image depicting a girl with a pie in the face. They will create three events leading up to this event. The ideas will be refined through role plays and the final writing will be scaffolded using a plot diagram or storyboard. Students may elect to present their final writing as a comic strip or as prose.
