Online: Supporting EAL/D students in our classrooms 3

Four primary students arms linked in a playground with bright mural on a wall behind them
NESA accredited. Presented by Dr Jennifer Hammond and Maya Cranitch. Supporting EAL/D students in our classrooms is a three part course designed to address the contributions and educational needs of diverse EAL/D students in Australian schools, including those who have recently arrived and who may be from refugee backgrounds. Drawing upon principles and practices of EAL/D pedagogy to support mainstream and EAL/D teachers in planning and implementing programs that meet the needs of EAL/D students in mainstream classes, teachers will learn how to identify specific teaching and learning practices that can best support the educational development of their EAL/D students. This course is NESA approved.

Participation in these courses can be one off or done as a series of three separate sessions. We recommend all three be done in sequence.

Part three  is Building substantive communication to support EAL/D students and it addresses the value for students of opportunities to Talk to Learn and to engage in sustained and in-depth conversations about key curriculum concepts.
