16 January - 27 February 2023
This moderated and self-paced course is designed to provide teachers with an understanding of how and why we can support students in the joint construction of persuasive texts.
Discussion of text choices will focus particularly on audience consideration and the combining of ideas. Oral language strategies will be shared to show how to shift from oral to more written like language at the point of planning for joint construction. Strategies such as monster cloze, think alouds and margin questions will be used in the context of working with model texts and supporting students during joint construction. Joint construction will be looked at during the planning, drafting and editing/reviewing phases in the process of writing.
Who should participate?
- Teachers of students F–6 who want a greater knowledge of the teaching of joint construction of persuasive texts
Completing this course will contribute three hours of Professional Development addressing standards 1.2.2,, 2.5.2, 3.3.2, and 3.5.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
