Online: Play-based language and literacy learning
NESA accredited. Presented and moderated by Dr Margery Hertzberg and Dr Leonie Arthur. Play-based learning is seeing a resurgence in the classroom and is especially beneficial with literacy and language learning. This practical course will provide teachers with a range of strategies to plan for, scaffold and assess play-based language and literacy learning. This course is NESA approved.
Practical strategies include language and literacy-enriched dramatic play, readers’ theatre, puppetry, story re-enactment and the creative arts. The role of teachers in advocating for play-based learning with families and the broader community is also addressed.
This course is self-paced.
Accreditation for NSW teachers : Completing Play-based language and literacy learning will contribute 3 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Accredited PD in the priority area of Delivery and assessment of NSW Curriculum/Early Years Learning Framework addressing standard descriptors 1.2.2, 2.1.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW..
