Online: Play-based language and literacy learning

A circle of happy kids — laying in star formation on lawn
Presented and moderated by Dr Margery Hertzberg and Dr Leonie Arthur. Play-based learning is seeing a resurgence in the classroom and is especially beneficial with literacy and language learning. This practical course will provide teachers with a range of strategies to plan for, scaffold and assess play-based language and literacy learning.

Practical strategies include language and literacy-enriched dramatic play, readers’ theatre, puppetry, story re-enactment and the creative arts. The role of teachers in advocating for play-based learning with families and the broader community is also addressed.
