Authors in schools

Connecting authors and illustrators with schools: Classroom Units

In this project, PETAA collaborated with the Copyright Agency to produce a series of video conferences, connecting authors and illustrators with students and teachers in Australian Primary schools. These fabulous units cover one or more of the feature author's work, often providing ideas and strategies for weeks of lesson content. They provide context for sessions of authors speaking to students in schools, and include direct links in lessons to the Australian Curriculum, and to other useful online resources. The comprehensive Authors in schools guide also resulted from this project.

PETAA owes thanks to Michelle Michaels and her staff at Gymea Bay Public School (NSW) for their valuable contributions to this endeavour. Michelle expertly coordinated the video conferencing, while her teachers worked with PETAA to create teaching units around the video sessions.
