Online: Reading to Write — PETAA 2020 Conference

PETAA's 2020 Leading with Literacy Conference on demand. Do you ever get the time to stop and think about the relationship between reading and writing (and talking and listening) in your classroom? Have you closely examined the role reading plays in learning to write? Are you looking to lift student performance in writing? Could you do more to integrate reading into the teaching of writing? Learning to write requires gaining control of language at the levels of text, paragraph, sentence and word. It involves knowledge about genre, text patterns, grammar and vocabulary, spelling and punctuation. Most primary teachers attend to these aspects of language as part of the regular literacy block however this conference will focus on the importance of the reading and writing connection, of ‘reading to write’ as part of literacy instruction. Join our experts to explore these issues as an individual, group or whole staff.
