This practical course will provide teachers with a range of strategies for small group interactive language and literacy experiences. There is a focus on the use of authentic texts to provide a meaningful context for purposeful talk and the development of vocabulary that is essential for reading and writing.
Why participate?

Select and use authentic narrative texts to engage students in critical literacy.
- Investigate language rich experiences that support the development of Tier 2 words that extend meaning and Tier 3 words that are topic specific.
- Learn how students engage in meaningful language and literacy experiences that integrate speaking, listening, writing and reading.
- Develop a further understanding of the four roles of the reader, with a particular focus on text analysis.
Who should participate?
- Teachers - Years F-6
- Pre-service teachers
- Early career teachers
How does it work?
- Individuals: upon registration individuals will be sent a link to access the PL on our online learning platform.
- Whole schools: One staff member must register on behalf of their school.
They can choose to have a single link to view this together or can email us the names and email addresses of teachers they wish to enrol.
