This course focuses on strategies to integrate a student love of reading and involvement into everyday literacy work. There are suggested teaching strategies, supported by teaching units and curriculum connections. Teachers are provided with practical strategies to create literature rich classrooms and a school wide reading culture.

This course is self-paced and unmoderated. All participants have access to materials for 365 days from the date they register. 

Learning outcomes:

  • Select quality children’s literature that inspires and delights students.
  • Introduce children’s literature as mentor texts to show how specific textual features are crafted.
  • Implement evidence-based pedagogy in your own classroom practice.
  • Use quality literature in your lessons to achieve the curriculum outcomes.
  • Support children to explore texts in greater depth.
  • Create positive reading environments in your classroom and across your school.

How does it work?

  • Individuals: upon registration individuals will be sent a link to access the PL on our online learning platform.
  • Group bookings: Schools wishing to make a group booking must email us the number of teachers they wish to enrol, in order to receive a quote.

Completing this workshop provides 2 hours of (NSW - Elective PL) of online Professional Learning addressing 1.2.2 and 2.5.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers.
